Felin Puleston was built by Piers Puleston around 1580.
It was powered by water from the River Clywedog and provided competition for King's Mill. The two mills shared the same leete but as Felin Puleston took the water first it could restrict the water flow to King's Mill. Competition ended in 1769 when Philip Yorke rebuilt King's Mill and bought Felin Puleston, converting it for farm use. A village grew up around the mill with cottages, a shop and a pub. Today just one cottage remains together with the wooden barn which was donated to the National Trust and brought here in 1977.
