The Minera Quarry Trust (MQT) seeks to promote the quarry for the benefit of the local and wider communities.
MQT was formed at public meetings in 2005, seeks to protect and regenerate Minera Quarry. It is an informal group, now constituted as a Company Limited by Guarantee. When North Wales Wildlife Trust acquired the quarry in 2017, they continued partnering with MQT. What we do: There are currently 3 main areas, but other projects and community participation in activities at the quarry will develop over the next few years. Walking – developing various marked walking trails to help visitors explore the different aspects of the quarry’s history and its regeneration. Local History – researching and promoting the fascinating history of mining and limestone quarrying which spanned over 100 years. Industrial Archaeology – this ties-in strongly with the site’s history because significant structures occur within the Nature Reserve. We are keen to welcome anyone who wants to get involved with the 3 aspects mentioned above, or who has a general interest in supporting this incredible location.
