Minera Country Park was born out of the Land Reclamation schemes of the late 20th century when the spoil tips left over from the preceding mineral workings and containing toxic lead, zinc and heavy metal waste were re-buried beneath a safe capping. These capped areas were then seeded with a grassland mix and small stands of native trees were planted. The park is approximately 22 hectares in size with most of it being rough grassland which has been grazed occasionally. A network of paths allows access through these areas. Regions of archaeological significance were left open and one has been turned into a museum/ visitor centre with rebuilt machinery installed to replicate the mine in its working life.
